Lady Cardinals Maturing On Basketball Court

FARMINGTON GRABS ROAD WIN AT HARRISON

FARMINGTON -- Farmington responded to a Harrison charge with a 16-8 run in the fourth quarter to put some distance between them and the Lady Goblins while claiming a 60-50 victory Jan. 23 at Harrison. The Lady Cardinals held a 39-28 halftime advantage, before Harrison mounted a third quarter run.

"That was a great win on the road," said Farmington coach Brad Johnson. "It was another night we were pretty danged balanced. Madisyn Pense got the hot hand in the first half. I think she had 24 points at the half. Makenna Vanzant managed the ball well. It's hard to go to Harrison and win. Within that game we had to withstand a run from Harrison that actually tied the game."

"That's a sign of maturity for this basketball team," Johnson said. "When you're on the road and they make a run you have to get that stopped. We did and then we turned around and made a run of our own."

Pense had 27 points to lead Farmington while Vanzant added 13. Brilye Parker had 28 for Harrison.
