Mary Martha Phillips Biggs

Mary Martha Phillips Biggs, 96, of Farmington, Ark., passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Springdale, Ark.

She was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Versales, Mo., the daughter of Edgar F. and Mary Ann (Monks) Carpenter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Phillips; two grandsons, Robert Douglas Phillips and Chris Hartley Phillips.

Survivors include her son, Dan Phillips; her great-grandson Robert R. Phillips; her great-granddaughter, Christen E. Phillips; and one nephew, Robert A. Phillips.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery, and no graveside service was held.

Darlis J. Holloway

Darlis J. Hollowary, 74, of Lowell, Ark., passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Rogers, Ark.

She was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Paris, Ark., the daughter of Arlis Nichols and Wanda Faye (Sells) Houser. She retired from the Lincoln School System after 30 years of service, spending most of her career working in Special Ed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Gene Holloway; and one sister, Judy Abraham.

Survivors include one son, Shawn Holloway; two daughters, Michelle Gray and husband Sam and Rhonda Driggers and husband Rob; one sister, Jackie Rowe; one stepbrother, Tony Espinosa; 10 grandchildren, Justin Alderson and wife Mallory, Cassie Youngblood and husband Jason, Christopher Haight, Matthew Haight, Sarah Haight, Logan Gray, Aubrey Holloway, Ashten Holloway, Avrie Holloway, and Bode Holloway; five great-grandchildren, Caysen Youngblood, Trenton Youngblood, Callie Youngblood, Lincoln Alderson and Landry Alderson.

Memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018, at Summers Missionary Baptist Church in Summers, Ark.

Jamie Ray McCarty

Jamie Ray McCarty, 50, of Farmington, Ark., went to be with the Lord after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis May 31, 2018.

He was born Oct. 10, 1967, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Jimmy and Eldora (Stanley) McCarty. He was a custodian for the Fayetteville school district for 20 years. He enjoyed camping, movies and Minions.

He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, William and Bessie (Lackey) McCarty; maternal grandparents, Ruby and Ersie (David) Stanley.

Survivors include his mother and brother Joe Dale of the home; a sister, Brenda Hampton of Missouri; aunts and uncles, James and Shirley McCarty of California, Joy and Jerry Nelson of Arkansas, Janice and Carl Pense of Arkansas, Raymond and Pat Stanley of Missouri, Alvin Stanley of Missouri, Neal and Cleta Stanley of Missouri; great-aunts, Janie Lackey and Cordie Forgey both of Fayetteville; and many cousins.

Graveside service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Dowell Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

Mary Magdaline Napier-Faddis

Mary Magdaline Napier-Faddis, 89, passed away June 3, 2018, at Harrison, Ark.

She was born Nov. 15, 1928, at Omaha Ark., to Joe and Elsie Sears Delong. She was a homemaker, quilter, loved to crochet, but most of all loved the Lord and her family. Her friends often spoke of how she loved her family and everything they did, all 70 of them.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers; four sisters; and first and second husbands, Shelby Napier and Homer Thornberry.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Faddis; one brother, William "Jr." Delong; one son, Robert Staggs of Prairie Grove, Ark.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and John Barnett of Elkins, Ark., Sharon and Butch Daniels of Prairie Grove, Karon and Jimmy Mitchell of Elkins, and Debbie and Randy Witman of Huntsville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel, with Eddie Reed and Brad Moore officiating. Interment followed at Combs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Staggs, Dewayne Keys, Matt Head, Joey McConnell, Wes Keys, and Colton Brannan.

Daniel Ortega

Daniel Ortega, 81, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed from this life on May 22, 2018, at his home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Alfredo and Maria Mendoza Ortega.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Regino Ortega.

He is survived by his children, Delia Cortez (Robert), David Ortega (Holly), Ruth Remington (Roger), Daniel Ortega, and Alfredo Ortega; his former spouse and mother of his children, Helen Trujillo; his siblings, Olivia DeAnda (Eusebio), and Ruth Mexicano; his sister-in-law, Dolores Ortega; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. June 16, 2018, at New Life Covenant Church in Prairie Grove.

Pamela Sue Sherry

Pamela Sue Sherry, 59, of Strickler, Ark., passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark.

She was born June 16, 1958, in Fayetteville, the daughter of Harley and Carol Lucille (Smith) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Karl Kinion and stepbrother, Ronnie Kinion.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Troy Wade Sherry; one daughter, Jody Russell and husband Todd; one son, Corby Sherry and wife Georgianna; her mother, Carol Kinion; her father, Harley Johnson and wife Annie; one brother, Tod Johnson and wife Shelly; one sister, Mandy Peoples and husband Jimmy; one stepbrother, Ricky Kinion; six grandchildren, Austin Russell, Preston Russell, Coleman Russell, Benton Sherry, Garrett Sherry and Cannon Sherry.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark. Burial was in the Fall Creek Cemetery in Strickler and no graveside service was held.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Highlands Oncology, Washington Regional Medical Center and Willard Walker Hospice Home for the loving care given to Pam during her illness.

Carol Blake West

Carol Blake West, 82, passed away June 5, 2018, peacefully in her sleep near her home in Cibolo, Texas, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to Rose and J. G. Blake. She lived a number of years in Pinehurst, Texas, later relocating to Lincoln, Ark., before permanently residing in Schertz and Cibolo, Texas.

She married her high school sweetheart, Vol West, on Nov. 3, 1952, in Lincoln, Ark. They were blessed with two wonderful children. They traveled often while her husband was in the Air Force to several stateside assignments and two overseas assignments in France and Italy. Before her illness, she always found time to help her neighbors and was especially generous to her friends and family. She was a member of the Schertz Methodist Church. She and her husband previously taught Sunday School at the Lincoln (Ark.) Methodist Church. She also served as a board member of the Arkansas Country Doctor Museum.

Shel was preceded in death by her father and mother of Morrow, Ark.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Vol; son, Randy West and wife Tammy of Richmond, Texas; daughter, Rosemarie West Velasquez and husband Baldo of Cibolo; two sisters, Johnnye Greuter and husband Mike of The Woodlands, Texas, and Susan Gist and husband Mike of Duncan, Okla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. June 8, 2018, at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery, 32539 SH 249, Pinehurst, TX 77362, with Chaplain Edward Morris officiating.
