Antwine Selected As All-Star

FARMINGTON -- Carley Antwine, a 2018 Farmington graduate and member of the 5A State Runner-up Lady Cardinal softball team, has been selected as an All-Star.

The 2018 Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star doubleheader softball games will be played Friday beginning at 4 p.m. at Ferris Field on the University of Central Arkansas campus at Conway.

During her senior season, the Lady Cardinals finished 27-5, winning the 5A West Conference tournament championship in their last season as a member of the league. Farmington reverts to the 4A-1 beginning in the fall for all sports except football, which retains seven classifications with other sports now reclassified in six divisions.

As a senior Antwine posed a threat every time she came up to bat at the top of the order. Antwine appeared in all 32 games Farmington played including the May 19, 2018, State 5A championship, a narrow 3-2 loss with runners on base in the bottom of the seventh inning at the Benton Sports Complex.

Antwine posted a .441 batting average, producing 45 hits in 102 at-bats from 122 plate appearances. Antwine scored 44 runs with 26 RBIs, 17 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs. Her on-base percentage of .529 included 18 base-on-balls and 4 times reaching on an error. Antwine sported a .931 fielding percentage and turned two double plays.
