National Catfish Day Coming Up

There are 18 holidays in June, but when I found them it was too late to name them here, as they occurred. The three remaining to be celebrated are June 22, National Chocolate Eclair Day, June 25, National Catfish Day and June 29, Waffle Iron Day. Some that have passed are: doughnut, chocolate ice-cream and corn on the cob. So, go ahead and eat up, celebrate anyway.

It was good to see the report in the paper, recognizing George and Lorene Schooler for one of their many volunteer services. Delivering meals is just one of their ways of serving. If they are unable to attend, as has happened recently, there is no Gospel Singing or Kitchen Band in the Senior Center, (and no "back up" when someone else can't take the meal that day.) So, when they meet with us, not only the music is upbeat, there are many times for "joke time" that we look forward to. They are active in community affairs and their church, and George is everyone's favorite "repair man."

There were only four present for the recipe exchange Monday, but the next meeting was planned. Each one is to bring a covered dish. So far, three vegetables and a fruit salad are planned for a good variety. Dorothy served some pineapple cake, a new recipe she had found, and it was delicious. The left-overs from the cake was given to the library ladies to enjoy.

My hummingbird is still around, but the two who appeared a few times haven't shown up. I guess the one chased them off too many times. He was a real "meanie," when the two flew by.

Happy birthday to Dwain Rigsbee, Jim Griffin, Paul Braly, Cutter Cruikshank, Edward Bradley, Linda Myers, Betty Cameron, John Mefford, Adriana Barbosa, Scott Bellamy, Weston Butler.

Happy anniversary to Wendell and Teresa Pershall, Kenny and Deby Bailey, Ronnie and Mary Rinehart.

Happy years, all!
