Howard Boise 'H.B.' Hutchens

Howard Boise "H.B." Hutchens, 78, a resident of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at his home.

He was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Prairie Grove, the son of Veryl Boise and Helen (Hooker) Hutchens.

He retired from the United States Air Force in 1981 after 20 years of service. He then went to work for Entergy where he later retired after 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Rustic Relic Tractor Club and was a member of the Viney Grove United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Veryl Hutchens.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Janet Sue Hutchens; two sons, Gary Hutchens of Dallas, N.C., and Terry Hutchens and wife Cathy of Las Vegas, Nev.; his mother, Helen Hutchens of Farmington, Ark.; two brothers, Roger Hutchens and wife Doris of Lincoln, Ark., and Ronnie Hutchens of Fayetteville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Bryce Hutchens, Jared Hutchens, and Miranda Hutchens.

Funeral Service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Prairie Grove First United Methodist Church in Prairie Grove. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Stewart Evans Smith

Stewart Evans Smith, 75, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

He was born July 16, 1942, in Camden, Ark., to James Francis Smith and Ada Lee Watts Smith. He proudly served in the United States Army, graduated from Ouachita Baptist University and received his Master's in math from the University of Arkansas.

He was the financial director for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association before becoming financial director for the city of Bentonville. He also served on the Bentonville School Board. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. He will be remembered for his love of golf, being able to recall and tell a great story, and his love of sports.

He will be remembered for the love he had for Jesus, his wife of almost 42 years, his children and his five granddaughters. They were the love of his life; he enjoyed his family more than anything on earth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Terry Smith; two children, Sharon Scogin and husband, Ryan of Farmington, Ark., Taylor Smith and wife, Amber of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Allen Smith of Little Rock, Ark., David Smith and wife, Janet of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, JoAnne Beaty and husband, Mike of Waco, Texas; and his five granddaughters.

Memorial services were held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Benny Thompson and the Rev. Phillip Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

Raymond Leon Vestal

Raymond Leon Vestal, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1931, in White Church, Kan., to Thomas and Charlotte Walker Vestal. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service he worked in several gas stations and garages and then went on to retire as a mechanic from the University of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene Karnes Vestal; his four sons, Raymond Vestal Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Terry Ray Vestal of Cane Hill, Ark., Roy Leon Vestal of Denver, Colo., and Charles Wayne Vestal of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Lorene Prewitt, Lillian Bishop, and Pat McElroy; one brother, Gary Vestal; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
