LINCOLN -- Carl Beutelschies, outgoing president of Lincoln Area Kiwanis Club, gave an overview of the past year during last week's club meeting.
Nine new members joined the club during the past year and Beautelschies noted this shows people are still interested in being involved to help the community.
The club changed locations from the community building on Lincoln Square to meeting at the administration building for Lincoln Consolidated School District. The move saved the club $1,500, Beuteschies said.
Aramark began providing lunches for club meetings and Betelschies said that has worked well for the club also.
Beutelschies recognized two members as being the Kiwanians of the Year for the Lincoln Club.
Mary Ann Spears, superintendent of schools, was recognized for bringing in four new members and for helping the club with its new meeting place and new meals. Jerry Leach was recognized for coordinating Meals on Wheels for the club and organizing programs each week.
"I've enjoyed this year and hopefully, I've left it better than it was," Beutelschies said.
New officers were inducted last week. Dakota Leming is the new president; Megan Hudgens, secretary-treasurer; Dan Wooley, president elect.General News on 10/03/2018
