LINCOLN -- Lincoln has a new restaurant called La Hacienda Monzerat at 300 E. Pridemore Drive.
Myra Colmenero and her father, Cesar Torres, own the restaurant. Other family members are involved and include her mom Blancci Gutierrrez and Myra's husband Ricardo Colmenero. Their children are Jayden Colmenero, Brandon Colmenero and Paris Torres.
Myra said she and her husband worked at her cousin's restaurant in Springdale and are using that experience to own and operate their own restaurant in Lincoln.
"My dad got this opportunity (for the restaurant) and he decided to take advantage of it," Myra said.
Myra said the family sees the restaurant as the chance to give back to the community.
The family lives in Springdale but Myra said they hope to move to Lincoln. Her children are attending Lincoln schools.
She said she has fallen in love with Lincoln and the people of Lincoln.
"Most of my customers are so kind and sweet and the other businesses in Lincoln have been very kind to us," Myra said. "It's amazing. We love this community."
She has several students from Lincoln High School working for her at the restaurant and she is most appreciative of their hard work.
"We wouldn't be as successful as we are to this point without them," she said.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
Myra recommends several items on the menu as her favorites. These include Combo #5 on the lunch menu, which is a Torta with meat options and fries. Other favorites are beef fajitas and California burrito.
The restaurant has a lunch menu with several items costing $5 and others $7.50. It also has seafood specialties, house specials, a Mexican breakfast menu, appetizers, kids' menu and desserts.
