The Only Safe Place Is A Place Of Humility & Calling On God

God judges rightly. He is always just. He looks at the totality of our life, not just one thing. Knowing how The Judge operates doesn't lessen the offense of any woman's abuse. Sin has painful consequences.

Yes, many men have mistreated many women horribly. Think Harvey Weinstein or Bill Clinton. Power over another person ought never be used to abuse that person. God hates oppression.

If Kavanaugh acted like a fool in his youth, he turned around and mended his ways. He has been an outstanding husband, father, citizen, and jurist; respected by all who know him.

Two cases come to mind for how someone can change, then live an exemplary life.

The first is David. He sinned with Bathsheba. He coveted a man's wife and had him killed. He contritely confessed his sin in Psalms 51. Yet God's calling to be king did not lift from David.

The next is Paul. He was a zealot for the Law, terrorizing the church. After he met the risen Jesus, he repented and received mercy. He said his sins were done ignorantly, in unbelief. He became the apostle of grace.

The fact is, Jesus saves all who call on Him. But there are seasons when God exposes sin. In the day of judgment, don't be judging others. Sowing and reaping applies. Keep your head down; be honest, be humble, be truthful.

Have you been watching the news? God is exposing corruption concealed in many venues: government, entertainment, church. The only safe place is a place of humility, not relying on your own goodness, but calling on Him. He has the final verdict. Nothing escapes him.

I'm praying for Judge Kavanaugh using Psalms 35. This amazing prayer was by a man being viciously accused. Read these verses and pray them with me.

"To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust. Do not let me be ashamed; do not let my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed. Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, for they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your lovingkindness remember me, for Your goodness' sake, O Lord." (Psalms 35:1-7, NASB)

If God revisited our youthful transgressions, who among us could stand? Thankfully, his mercies are new every morning.

I believe Dr. Ford has an injured soul. I do pray for her, that she will find healing and solace. People don't understand how sins that we commit (or sins committed against us) leave emotional scars. In either case, peace is found in forgiving and being forgiven, and by obtaining grace from God.

The two sides of the key that unlock God's mercy for us are repentance and faith - repentance toward God (who has the right to set standards and hold us accountable), and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (who, based on His loving sacrifice for us, is our source of real righteousness).

Sinners need to repent, both frat boys in college and women attending drinking parties with them. Both the accused and their accusers (whether lying or not) need their damaged souls restored. I know Someone who specializes in that. We all need His saving power.
