COLUMN: Faith And Facts, Not Fear

Weather or news, take your pick. Where do we start with the "news"? One group was tearing our country apart (Read Luke 11:17, KJV). Now, along comes a world-wide problem. The prevention tips about this latest "virus" are about the same as for the flu, which is still a problem, especially this time of year. Hopefully, all have received their flu shots. About the coronavirus, the media states "facts not fear." I say, "Facts, yes, but most important, Faith, and not Fear."

As usual, several humorous comments and pictures have made the rounds. Example: A local farmer was having trouble during the calving season, losing caves and cows. His son-in-law said, "Do you think this is a case of "Cow-corna Virus?"

We at Sugar Hill Church were disappointed recently when the boys from Morrow Boys Ranch couldn't attend as planned, to tell us of their mission trip to Guatemala, canceled due to the coronavirus. Maybe later, it is something we look forward to.

The church service, as most others, was canceled last Sunday, when a promised "surprise speaker" was to attend.

During these days when we are advised to stay home, wash your hands, etc., I searched in my list of keepers for something relative and found the following:

Thoughts For The Days

  1. Read God's Word daily.

  2. Make the most of your circumstances.

  3. Don't take yourself too seriously.

  4. Know that you can't please everybody.

  5. Be yourself. Don't let others set your standards.

  6. Do things you enjoy doing.

  7. Don't borrow trouble.

  8. Avoid people who make you unhappy.

  9. Develop many interests.

  10. Keep busy at something.

  11. Don't brood over sorrows and mistakes.

  12. Do what you can for others.

  13. And pray.
