Kite Festival Canceled

The 20th annual Cane Hill Kite Festival, scheduled for March 6, has been canceled because of covid restrictions and health guidelines, according to T.A. Sampson, coordinator and owner.

"It is with great sadness that I announce there will be no 20th Annual Cane Hill Kite Festival," Sampson said in an announcement about the cancellation. "I reviewed the new ADH (Arkansas Department of Health) directive that came out yesterday and I cannot, in good conscience, sign off on this agreement and guarantee we can fulfill the requirements of a safe venue. Yes, we are in the great open spaces of Springfield Ranch, but people will still have to line up for registration, kite buying, the Kite Hospital and food."

Sampson said she is looking forward to sponsoring a "great comeback event" on March 5, 2022.

"In the meantime, I thank everyone for your support: be safe and be kind," Sampson said.
