This Sunday is Easter Sunday and there will be reunions, huge dinners, egg hunts and more.
It is reported that Easter is second only to Halloween as the holiday when the most candy is consumed -- about 120 million pounds of Easter candies are purchased each year -- jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, chocolate eggs and other candies.
This is all well and good, but is Easter becoming as commercialized as Christmas? Are we putting second the real reason for Easter? Consider the following:
One Guy Didn't
Three guys were arrested as criminals
Two guys had committed crimes
One guy had not.
Three guys were given trials
Two guys had fair trials
One guy did not.
Three guys were whipped and beaten
Two guys deserved it
One guy did not.
Three guys were spit at, cursed at
Two guys cursed and spit back
One guy did not.
Three guys were nailed to three crosses
Two guys deserved it
One guy did not.
Three guys talked on their crosses
Two guys argued
One guy did not.
Three guys knew death was coming
Two guys resisted
One guy did not.
1,2,3 guys died on those three crosses
Two guys died for their sins
One guy died for their sins, my sins, your sins.
Three days later
Two guys remained in the grave.
One guy did not.
That one guy loved us enough to die for us
Thank him today.
His name was Jesus.
Remember the most effective prayer is, "Thank you, Lord."
