Committee Approves Purchases

FARMINGTON -- The city's Finance Commission approved two bids last week, one to purchase equipment for Farmington Sports Complex and the other to repair a bridge on Double Springs Road.

City staff can go to the Finance Committee for purchases over $10,000 to under $20,000, without City Council approval.

The Committee approved a low bid of $18,500 from Fochtman Enterprises of Fayetteville to repair one bridge footing on Double Springs Road. The repairs have been on the state's inspection report for two years, according to Floyd Shelley, public works manager. The cost is fairly high, Shelley said, because water will have to be pumped out of the creek to make the repairs.

The Committee also approved a bid of $16,741.88 from Professional Turf Products of Lenexa, Kan., for a Sand Pro 3040 and groomer attachment that will be used to prep ballfields. Shelley said the equipment will allow park staff to increase productivity and save time.

"This is more worker friendly," Shelley said.

Alderwoman Patsy Pike chairs the Finance Committee. Other members are City Clerk Kelly Penn, Bill Bequette, Jimmy Story and Christy Watson, who was absent from the Sept. 2 meeting.
