Meals On Wheels March Held March 20

Friday, March 20 was a balmy Spring day as Punxsutawney Phil evidently had awakened from his self-imposed 6-week nap, so there were plenty of activities in the Lincoln Senior Center.

After lunch, bingo was enjoyed. At 2:30, the March for Meals on Wheels began, with groups of 2 or 3 walking around the square. I have no idea of the number of walkers, but the result was over $900, at last report. Thanks to all the sponsors and walkers.

As I was visiting one sponsor who had at one time delivered meals, but no longer is able to attend the center, it brought to mind again, how important those home deliveries are. The home-bound seniors are furnished a good nutritious meal each weekday, and on Friday they receive meals for the weekend as well as before-hand for holidays.

My nephew Troy Bradley drove from Fayetteville after volunteering for Abilities Unlimited that morning and niece Diana Bradley walked with me, assuring me that they had an ambulance on standby!

No fooling, today is April 1 and April is Keep America Beautiful month, humor, lawn and garden, landscape, car care, injury prevention, youth sports safety, decorating, physical awareness and --
