Prairie Grove Council Adopts Ordinances

PRAIRIE GROVE -- Prairie Grove City Council adopted three ordinances at its Jan. 19 meeting.

Ordinance 2015-01 amends the city's Zoning Ordinance for paved driveways and traffic-ways. The amendment requires a non-paved drive, access, parking or loading area to be paved under certain conditions:

• If the property remains unoccupied for more than 90 days,

• If a new structure is built or an existing structure is altered by adding square footage,

• If a change in occupancy results in the need for additional parking, drives or storage areas.

The amendment states that the owners must pave the drive, access, parking lot or loading areas before a new occupation can occur.

The ordinance adds a new section to Prairie Grove Municipal Code that says a residential owner may apply for a waiver from the requirement to pave a drive if the residential drive is in an agricultural zone and exceeds 100 feet in length.

Ordinance 2015-02 adds a new section to the city's Municipal Code to authorize the mayor to waive adoption fees for animals at special events.

Ordinance 2015-03 amends solid waste rates for apartments in Prairie Grove, based on the number of volume picked up each year. Rates vary from $8.50/month for a residential user whose use does not exceed 52 15-gallon containers per year to a $19.50/month for a residential user whose use does not exceed 156 32-gallon containers per year.
