Former Morrow Resident Celebrates 90 Years

Leatha Hite, formerly of Morrow, Ark., turned 90 on June 4 and celebrated with a party at her grandson's house in Sapulpa, Okla.

The party was hosted by her son, Danny, and his wife, Jan, granddaughter Joretta Maxwell and husband David, grandson Joel Hite and wife Cindy, and by her great grandchildren, Miranda and Marissa Brashear, Tanner and Taylor Hite and Evan Maxwell.

The theme of the party was "Oldies." The meal was planned around the favorite foods that Leatha had served to her family over the years. One of the favorites was the Devils food cake she made for each of her children's birthdays. Friday night before her birthday party, she helped members of the family make another Devils food birthday cake.

Leatha's dad, Clarence Smith, lived in the Morrow valley until he passed away. Many can remember Clarence driving his 1950 GMC truck. Joel, Leatha's grandson, wanted to have the truck running again, especially for this birthday. Joel was able to accomplish this project. LouVerna, Leatha's sister from California, was delighted to see that the truck she learned to drive in was running again. Lethea, her sister, LouVerna, grandkids and great grandkids enjoyed riding in the old truck. It was one of the greatest gifts and the highlight of the birthday.

The party was well attended by 51 friends and family from Oklahoma, California, Arkansas and Missouri.

Leatha was so happy to see everyone that had taken the time to come and celebrate this special birthday with her. She would like to say "Thank You" for coming and "Thank You" for all the cards that were sent.
