FARMINGTON -- Kum & Go will open its new 5,000-square-foot store in Farmington at 6 a.m. Thursday morning (March 5), according to a company news release.

The convenience store and gas station, located at 90 E. Main St., will offer fresh pizza slices for $1 during its opening week. The store is located on 1.5 acres at the corner of Broyles and Main. It has 25 parking spaces and eight fueling stations to serve 16 vehicles. The store has 15-17 employees and will be open 24 hours.

"I think this is another indication that a business feels Farmington is an up and coming business development town," Mayor Ernie Penn said Friday.

Penn pointed out the store is in a great location to capture a high volume of traffic on U.S. 62, as well as additional traffic coming and going from Broyles Street.

"This is another asset to our town," Penn said.

By email, Kyle Krause, Kum & Go chief executive officer, said Farmington meets the company's plans for expansion.

"As a growing community, Farmington fit perfectly with our business model and was a natural choice as we looked to expand from our Fayetteville locations," Krause stated.

The new store is "designed to provide fast and friendly service" and will offer made-to-order pizzas, baked goods and breakfast and deli sandwiches, the news release says. Food items are prepared daily in the store's on-site kitchen.

Kum & Go is on the site of the former One Stop Mart and a separate drive-up ice machine. The land also includes about 28,000 square feet that Kum & Go purchased from Farmington's Creekside Park for $106,551. The park land was located in a low-lying area and not suitable for park activities, according to city officials.

Kum & Go is committed to saving energy and water through sustainable practices, the news release states. New stores, including the one in Farmington, are designed, constructed and submitted for LEED certification. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

Kum & Go has 47 stores throughout Arkansas. Customers can download a free app to receive digital offers or coupons or to locate stores nearby. To download the app, text APP to 50101 or visit Apple's App store or Google's Play store.
