Farmington FBC To Hold Seder Service April 3

FARMINGTON -- First Baptist Church of Farmington, on Rheas Mill Road, will host a Passover Meal or Seder service from 6-9 p.m., on Good Friday, April 3.

"Experience Passover," as the event has been designated, will be a time of teaching, fellowship and family interaction. The service will follow the traditional Seder or order that Jewish families have observed for more than 3,300 years and will conclude with a deeper understanding of what Christians call the "last supper" and the night of prayers of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The Passover Seder has always been about teaching the biblical telling of the exodus of God's people from Egypt in a way in which both Bible beginners and scholars can gain deeper insight. First Baptist's Seder service will follow that design and promises to be a great time for young and old, singles and families to learn in an interactive format.

The event will cover the Passover, The Last Supper of Christ and his Talmidim/Disciples and touch upon a variety of topics including the Hebrew Calendar and aspects relating to the "Moed" or Festivals and Times of God and how the Blood Moons fall into that calendar.

The church's event is actually being held on the First night of Passover, the 3rd of April 2015 or 14 Nissan of the Hebrew Year 5775. That day and evening coincide with the Christian observance of Good Friday and the night will be illuminated by the third blood moon of the Tetrad that has been spoken of so much in books, media and other resources over the last few years.

The church will provide childcare for children birth-3 years old. Older children are encouraged to attend the Seder service with their parents. This is a family friendly event that will include some interaction for the kids, video clips, and hands-on opportunities to experience a Passover meal. There will be a break about half-way through the event for fellowship and snacks.

Facilitator will be Michale Greiving, a long-time member of FBC who has experience in conducting these types of events in other churches and in small groups.

For more information, go to fbcfarmington.com or contact the church office at 479-267-3159. The church is asking people to register for the event to ensure a place for yourself, friends and family. A donation of $10 per family is suggested but not required for attendance.
