Time To Check Out July Calendar

I was thinking it was too early to print reminders of July events. Then I looked at the calendar! I guess we were too busy "catching up," after the rains quit, and June just flew by.

Remember the final planning meeting for the Lincoln Alumni reunion is Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian fellowship hall. The reunion is set for July 24, in the new Lincoln High School building, from 2 to 4 p.m. and it will be here before we know it.

There is only one important holiday in July, "the 4th," but whoever makes the list of the month, believes in celebrating, eating, and having fun -- so July is car care month, kite, mobility, grilling, pecan, baked beans, hot dog, blueberries, ice cream, horseradish, straw hat, reunion, recreation and parks, water gardening, poetry, also anti-boredom, cell phone courtesy, stress awareness, make a difference to children, physical awareness, and last but not least, humor month. Happy July and Happy Fourth of July, celebrating our 240 years of independence.

Now for some of that humor --

"A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup to come out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4 year old to answer the phone. "It's the minister, Mommy," the little girl said to her mother. Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle."

Happy birthday to Donnette Roberts, Lillian Griscom, Adam Barnes, J.W. Chatham, Diana Bradley, Bryson Patrick, Rickey Myers, Brian Bradley, Ralph Moore, Lahaya Bentley, Kim Lyons, Alicia Wofford, Mary Frances Brock.

Happy anniversary to Gary and Mary Newberry, Duck and Sue Perguson, John and Eulimma Harvey, Luther and Betty Thompson, Ken and Marci Ryan, Garland and Ann Smith, Kenny and Debbie Butler.

Happy years, all!
