Ozarks Electric: Six Years, No Lost Time

FAYETTEVILLE -- Ozarks Electric Cooperative announced that at midnight on March 3 it reached a major safety milestone: six years without a lost-time accident. This achievement equates to more than 2.3 million working hours for the company without any injuries that caused an employee to miss a day of work.

"The electric industry ranks in the top ten most hazardous occupations in the country, and to achieve six years of keeping all of our people safe is a major accomplishment," said Mitchell Johnson, president and CEO of Ozarks Electric. "This is a true testimony of the culture of safety that all of our employees are committed to and such focus allows all of us to return home to our families safely every day. This benefits every cooperative member as well as the general public and I am truly proud of this achievement."

Roger Stegeman, Ozarks Electric's job training and safety coordinator commented, "It's employees taking pride in their work. Working safely for themselves and their loved ones and watching out for their fellow employees is what makes it work."
