Kendra Moore, 40, has served on Lincoln School Board for seven years and said her experience in marketing, brand management and business development are valuable assets when serving as a member of a school board.
Moore is seeking re-election to represent Zone 3 on Lincoln's Board of Education.
She is owner of Redeemed Construction, LLC, and holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in business administration from John Brown University. She and her husband have two children in the Lincoln Consolidated School District.
Moore said she believes her experience and education have served her well on the Lincoln School Board.
"Working in business gives you a lot of experience in critical thinking, goal setting, collaboration and problem solving," Moore said. "These are valuable skills in working with teams. This experience has prepared me in strategic thinking and visioning both of which are valuable assets in setting goals and policies. When you work with a team that has a shared vision and common goals, it is a rewarding experience to see what you can accomplish."
The role of a school board, Moore said, is to guide the district in establishing and approving policies.
"School Districts run most effectively when governed by policies that empower the Superintendent, encourage student achievement and engage teachers and staff for excellence," she stated.
Successful organizations cast a vision, set goals and create a path and plan to achieve them. When this plan is written down, an organization is more likely to act on it and be accountable to it, Moore said.
"In my experience, working on teams, this has been a plan that worked and was successful. I look forward to continuing to serve on the Board using my skills, working together with the other members and the Superintendent, to define the road map to success and the path to achieve it."
Moore said she has enjoyed serving on the School Board and would like to continue to serve in order to encourage the success of Lincoln students and staff.
"I am an alumni of Lincoln Schools and my children attend school here, so I have a vested interest in the school's continued growth and progress. Lincoln is a great community. The people here care for one another and the school district. Because of the people and businesses that invested in the school district and in me, I was prepared for the future when I graduated. Continuing to invest in our students and staff by giving them the tools they need to prepare for their unique futures is a compelling reason to continue to serve on the board. I am excited about the future of our school district and hope to have the opportunity to continue to shape it," Moore said.
