FARMINGTON -- Rogers High defeated Farmington 3-0 in a nonconference volleyball match Aug. 22 on the Lady Mounties' home court at King Arena. Rogers was too much for a shorter Farmington squad that graduated several starters and the majority of players from their 2016 rotation. The final score in the season-opener for both teams was 25-17, 25-14, 25-21.

The Lady Cardinals traveled to Gravette for the second match of the week Aug. 24. This was one of the most intense and evenly matched contests thus far as both Gravette and Farmington can play volleyball. For two hours, the match went back and forth as the two teams set up long rallies, sometimes lasting well over a minute before a mental error or misstep allowed the ball to touch the court for a point. The Lady Cardinals eventually won the match with three sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to Gravette's one 25-21.

In the Gravette-Farmington junior varsity match, the Lady Cardinals took set one 25-23 with the Lady Lions taking set two 30-28 sending the gaming into third set tie breaker. Farmington prevailed taking that set 15-8 and the match 2-1.

The Farmington varsity competed in the Alma Invitational tournament Aug. 26 and lost to Paris, 2-0. The scores were 25-12 and 25-15.
