Two Prairie Grove Men Face Rape Charges

Prairie Grove police arrested two men in connection with rape in two separate incidents, according to preliminary arrest reports.

Devon Coughran, 20, of Prairie Grove, was arrested Aug. 8 in connection with rape following a report of sexual assault of a 9-year-old victim.

In a separate incident, Kendall Davis, 49, of Prairie Grove, was arrested Aug. 5 in connection with rape after a woman came to the police department and reported that she woke up and Davis was touching her genitals.

The report on Coughran states that the suspect was still on the scene and agreed to an interview by Sgt. Tim Standifer. Coughran stated that he and the 9-year-old victim were in a bedroom together and the boy was curious about sex. At the time, Coughran told police there was not any sexual touching of any kind.

The victim was interviewed by the Child Safety Center and disclosed, according to the report, that there was mutual touching and other sexual acts. Coughran was brought in for a second interview and admitted to the mutual touching and other sexual acts. He was arrested and taken to Washington County Detention Center. He was released Monday on a $15,000 bond, according to Standifer.

In the second incident, the victim told police she did not give consent for any sexual contact. In an interview with police, Davis said he went into the bedroom to try to wake up the woman but did not admit to any sexual contact.

The report states that fingernail scrapings and a DNA swab were taken from the suspect and would be forwarded to the Arkansas Crime Lab. Davis was arrested in connection with felony rape and taken to the Detention Center. Davis had a $10,000 bond and was released Monday, Standifer said.
