Pair Of Doves Delightful Viewing

The January recipe exchange meeting was canceled Monday, as the library inventory was taking place. There has been some thinking of actually making something from one of the recipes during a meeting, maybe next time, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m.

The cardinals and many other birds at the feeder are fun to watch, but recently, I received an extra special surprise. One day, looking out the kitchen window, I saw two "balls" about two inches in diameter on the cedar tree limb, close together. For several days I watched them, and decided it was a growth of some kind on the limb, though I had never seen anything like it on the cedar. Then one day as I watched, a little head appeared on top of one, "ball," then two little wings stretched up, then the other "ball" moved. It was a pair of doves! Since then, they have come and gone at intervals, always coming back to the same limb, and sitting close to each other.

Upon seeing the report of rain and mud slides so close to where our California cousins live, I called to check on them. Their street is on an incline, and they live on the "high" end, so she said they were high enough the mud slide wouldn't reach them. While we were talking she shouted, "Marie, the sun just came out!" Their main worry now, is that the few roads leading into their town were in danger from the mud slides, and they might be really isolated, for no telling how long if that happens.
